Hi! I'm Jessica.

At my core, I am a helper, a healer, a nurturer, and a support person.

I enjoy gardening, cooking and eating foods, football, spending time with my family and friends, and relaxing by water. I have always had a passion for pregnancy, labor, and birth. I've always felt a strong desire to help and support pregnant friends, family members, and neighbors. I've helped in any way I could: grocery shopping, attending or transportation to appointments, cooking, cleaning, foot and back massages, anything I could do to help.

I have 2 children, a teenage boy, and a preteen girl. As a mom, I enjoyed both of my pregnancies, however, my birth experiences left much to be desired. I had taken childbirth education, however, I wasn't taught to honor my own intuition. I wasn't taught that it was okay to question the doctors that I put all of my trust in. My experiences led me to educate myself. In educating myself, I learned of the US' Maternal Mortality Rate of 17.4 per 100,000 live births. That rate is 7.7 times higher among women over 40 and the rate increases exponentially with Non-Hispanic black birthers at 37.1 per 100,000 births.

Now, as a Doula, I have the training and knowledge to not just help women and their families, but to support them, to encourage them, to educate them, to advocate for them. I'm able to help my clients make informed decisions, and to encourage them to honor their intuition so that they feel comfortable advocating for themselves. As  doula, I teach families how to adjust and care for the new members of the household. I support the birthing parent in healing so that she can get back to her new normal.

My aphorism is "Everything you need to birth your way is already within you. Allow me to show you Your Power”. I believe that given the proper tools, knowledge, and support any mother can have the best birthing and postpartum experience possible.

My goal as your doula is for you to be  able to look back at your birthing and postpartum experiences and feel a deep sense of fulfillment. Having a happy, gratified, and accomplished birther is my mission as a doula.
